Snow Adventures at Dakota Ridge Recreational Area
Dakota Ridge is a winter recreation area located 20 km from Rockwater Secret Cove Resort. From Rockwater Secret Cove Resort, travel Highway 101 south through Sechelt and Davis Bay. Turn left at Field Road traffic lights (at the Canadian Tire Store). Travel 1.5 km to the end of Field Road.Turn right onto gravel forest service road and travel 14 km's to parking area of Dakota Ridge Winter Recreation Area.The access road is now being plowed on a regular basis. However, winter conditions should be expected on the road. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ROAD, ACCESS IS RESTRICTED TO 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES WITH CHAINS. With 12 km of groomed cross country skiing trails and a network of snowshoe trails, Dakota Ridge offers excellent winter recreation for all ages.
Dakota Ridge is a user pay system with on-site facilities including a warming hut with fireplace, and an outhouse with eco holding tank. There is a kiosk with a trail map at the trailhead. Dakota Ridge will be patrolled on the weekends by volunteer trail hosts. They will be available to answer questions, monitor trails, and help ensure skier safety.
Dakota Ridge is a wilderness area with varying weather conditions. Please come prepared for the weather. Also, there are no garbage facilities on site, so please pack your garbage out with you.

Starlight and Fondue Snowshoe Tours

Snowshoe / Airboard Tours
The AIRBOARD is a new high-tech winter sport item from Switzerland. It is a lightweight inflatable sled - the boogie board for snow.This incredible racing sled allows riding off normal ski trails and through the powder. It’s steered by shifting the bodyweight from one side to the other (very easy and a great deal of fun). It gives you a wild feeling of flying breathtakingly close to the snow. Shocks that occur when riding are absorbed by the elasticity of the board.
We use AIRBOARDs for our combined snowshoe/AIRBOARD tours. We simply snowshoe up and after a short break we replace the snowshoes with AIRBOARDs - AIRBOARD descents through the snowy slopes are always unforgettable. This half day tour includes snowshoe / AIRBOARD rental, guiding & instruction, 4 X 4 transport and hot cocoa / snacks during the tour.
