Barefoot Luxury: Preserving the Spirit of Rockwater
At Rockwater Secret Cove Resort, luxury has never been about separating yourself from nature. It’s about getting closer to it.
Set between the forest and ocean on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, Rockwater’s story stretches back more than six decades. What began as a simple coastal lodge on 25 acres has evolved over the years, while many of the original cabins continue to carry the character of Rockwater’s early days.
Rather than replacing these original structures and starting over, we’ve chosen to preserve their character and thoughtfully refresh our accommodations for greater comfort. It’s an approach that reflects what Rockwater is all about:
Barefoot Luxury - thoughtful comfort without losing connection to the natural environment around you.
Thoughtfully Refreshed, Naturally Rockwater
Rockwater has continued to evolve over the years. In 2006–2007, our signature oceanfront Tenthouses were added along the forest boardwalk, joining the historic cabins and lodge accommodations on the same remarkable stretch of coastline.
Today, Rockwater remains closely connected to its surroundings. The forest, ocean, wildlife and changing West Coast weather are all part of the stay.
Where Nature Is Part of the Experience
Here, you might wake up to birds outside your window, hear the forest around you in the evening, spot local wildlife nearby, or occasionally encounter one of nature’s smaller visitors.
From our tree-top boardwalk winding through the forest to ocean views and rocky shoreline, nature isn’t simply something you look at from Rockwater - it’s something you experience while you’re here.
Our Kind of Luxury
For us, Barefoot Luxury means enjoying a beautiful meal overlooking the ocean, relaxing by the pool, walking through the forest to your Tenthouse, or ending the evening under the stars - while still feeling connected to the wild beauty of the Sunshine Coast.
It’s comfortable, relaxed and intentionally close to nature.
